A casino may be coming soon to the Phoenix metro area. The bill previously approved by the House, was just approved by Senate on Wednesday. Governor Jan Brewer will be the next stop to deiced if the bill will be finalized or not. The Tohono O’odham Nation had bought 54 acres in the city of Glendale. The bill if passed by the Governor, will annex that land. This will allow for the land to be considered tribal land. Therefore the building of a casino can happen. Currently, the Tohono O'odham are asking for the land to be considered part of their reservation. A legal challenge has already been filed in federal court. Return to Arizona Casinos. |
