A recent study showed that Florida ranks third in revenue earnings from gaming. New York and Pennsylvania ranked higher. However, Florida ranked below average when population was considered.

There was a large growth in 2010 from casinos, race tracks, and lotteries. However, half of the growth of the nationwide the state government revenue was due to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania legalized the operation of table games and poker last year.

Florida’s large portion of gaming revenue was based on tourism and large population. However, the state was below average in resident gaming revenue.

The state earned on average $94 per resident on gaming. This puts Florida ranking at 21 in the nation of resident gaming.
