The Michigan Senate passed a gaming compact with the Gun Lake Band of the Pottawatomi tribe that will allow the tribe to open an Indian casino in Wayland township. The compact guarantees the tribe will pay the state 8-10% of all slot machine revenues. It also sets the minimum gambling age at 21, whereas other Indian casinos in the state are 18 and older. This is expected to be the final hurdle for the new casino following years of legal challenges. Return to Michigan Casinos. |
