After campaigning in support of gaming expansion, Governor Mark Dayton has been slowing down his support. Stating that amount of time needed in this session is too short to create the new necessary law that would include gaming revenue in the budget for this year.

When the governor was busy campaigning, he was in support of a state run casino. That support was given for a casino near the Mall of America, or the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

With a deadline approaching, other law makers are not as quick to give support to an expanded gaming bill. The governor has proposed a state budget that does not include gaming revenue.

Previously, lawmakers had supported the idea of building a casino. A popular idea was using part of the revenues to build a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings. It is possible that the Viking ownership may decide to move the team if they cannot build new stadium.

Minnesota lawmakers have two weeks to work on a state budget that includes a $6.2 billion deficit.
